| This is a bit of a rare item...a compass that fits on the David White Universal Level and Level Transit instruments, including the 3000, 8300, 8114, 8014, etc. The basic design remained little changed throughout its history, but the paint was altered to match whatever was featured on the current models. This earlier version has a black wrinkle finish to go along with the late '40s/early '50s instruments. Also, I believe the final (later) versions attached to the post at the top-center of the telescope, while this unit (and the gray version pictured below) merely rests on top of the telescope. This particular compass is in good cosmetic and excellent operating condition, and can be used with the appropriate models of any vintage. It is pictured here exactly as we received it...we will clean it up before we ship it out...but it works great as-is already! It comes with the original cardboard box, the inside of which smells like my grandparents attic back in Wisconsin. SOLD!! | |||||||||||||
