| Years in the making! Hand crafted aluminum adapter will adapt your vintage David White Meridian instruments to a modern 5/8x11 tripod of your choice. The Meridian Instruments (L6-20, LT6-900, 8080, 8090, etc.) featured a male thread 11/16"x26 for the attachment of the tripod. The proprietary tripod had a fastening bolt with a "cup" female thread to match up. There were a number of components involved with that fastening bolt, but it would not have been economically viable to reproduce all of them. This double-female adapter has the 5/8x11 thread on one end, and the 11/16x26 on the other. There are many Meridian instruments still in service, but tripod parts have not been available for years, and vintage David White tripods for these instruments have gotten pricey on eBay. One of the photos shows the adapter in use with an LP-20 and a funky David white 5/8x11 tripod. Note...later production Meridians wisely went to a 5/8x11 thread. | Adapt your instrument with the old-style female 3-1/2x8 thread to a modern 5/8x11 tripod of your choice. I suspect this is the same adpater Site Pro includes with their David White LT8-300 level transit, still in production. No one makes a tripod of this type any more, and on eBay, antique or not, they seem to command a high pricen used. SECO also offers a similar adapter (black anodized aluminum) but it is quite a bit more expensive. This one is from NWI (Northwest Instruments).
