| Back in thee good old days, there were software and hardware companies that produced data collectors for a multitude of instrument brands. Survey Pro was introduced by TDS and utilized the HP48 calculator as a hardware platform. EventuallyTDS offered hardware that was actually designed for field use, being more rugged and possessing useful in-and-out connections and other features. When Trimble acquired TDS, they continued offuering and and updating the Survey Pro and the existing hardware such as the Recon, Nomad, and Ranger. Years later, Trimble has discontined Survey Pro and the classic hardware options, except for the pricey Ranger 7. The trend for big brands like Trimble, Sokkia, Topcon, Leica, and others is to offer software that basically works with and is designed for their own instruments. For example, you would need Magnet software to work with your modern Topcon or Sokkia product, with no compatibility with other brands. Survey Pro editions after 6.1 also started a trend of discontinuing functionality with older Sokkias and others. You can no longer purchase or upgrade any version of Survey Pro on new or existing hardware. Carlson and MicroSurvey seem to be the only two companies offering software that works with muliiple brands, although with some limitations. If you like Survey Pro and your older station, we have a number of Pre-owned Recons, Nomad, and Ranger 2 (TSC2) and Ranger 3 (TSC3) units, the majority of which have Survey Pro activated, and then some. Most of these are very clean, with good batteries and screens. We also carry batteries, power boots, chargers, RS232, and USB cables.
