| Brunson alignment scopes are made of extremely heavy-walled heat-treated steel alloy tubing, ground inside and out to extremely close tolerasnces. Primarily these alignment telescopes are used to establish and maintain principal optical reference lines. in addition they provide the important functions of collimationm, auto-collimation, and auto-reflection, The model 83 incorporater two micrometers for precise measurements in two directions perpendicular to the lne if sight. The telescope has built-in provisions for maintaining the line of sight straight throughout a focus range of two inches and infinity (and beyond!). This allows the instrument to me located in the tightest of set-ups. Straightness is maintained at +/- 0.0001 of an inch Model 84 isd also equipped for (optional) auto-collimation and auto-reflection. Magnification: 20X at 2 inches to 30X at infinity. Reticle: glass, filar/bi-filer pattern.
One of the two scopes includes the no-doubt valuable 521 black spherical mount, the other does not. Currently you only receive what is shown in the photos (includes grey bomb-proof cases). Both units show typical signs of used but not abused operation, incliding inscriptions from the original; owners (Lockheed).
